Southampton Church Deacons Ordained

""
Participants in the ordination service include: Tracey Bean, Harry Adderley, Vincent Bean, Pastor Llewellyn Williams, Davis Sandy, Forrest Williams, and Shannon James.
One of the last official duties Pastor Llewellyn Williams performed before he left the Southampton church was an ordination service on Sabbath, January 19, for deacons who were elected to serve this year. Six young men were ordained to the office.

The sermon, “Empowered by the Spirit,” challenged not only the deacons but encouraged the members to work together to share the gospel with others. This was a spiritual high day for the deacons and their families since most family members were present for the service. The deacons and elders presently serving encircled the new deacons to lay hands on them for prayer. The ordination prayer was given by Howard Ebbin, church pastoral assistant.

One of the deacons, Tracey Bean, who has been a member of the Southampton church for about 11 years and the first recipient of the Southampton GED program certificate, was humbled by the experience. A text that has significant meaning for him is Isaiah 41:10,” Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Along with the other deacons, he wants to visit the neighbors in the area surrounding the church and make the Adventist name and mission known to them. In addition to that, the deacons want to fulfill the physical and spiritual needs of the community.
